GreenHouse Building/Workshop with Uncle Mud

Come join us, Friday, August 11, any time from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, to help build a greenhouse addition to our straw-bale "Tree Barn" and learn about natural building with clay, sand and straw, painting with milk and other cool stuff. Featuring our good friend and natural builder, Uncle Mud! Pizza cooked in our cob oven will be served around 4:30 pm.

Under the guidance of area natural builder Chris McClellan aka Uncle Mud (The Natural Cottage Project), we have been incorporating natural buildings and structures onto the farm over the past four years. These structures are made from locally sourced clay, sand, straw and lumber, and salvaged elements like doors and windows. Structures include a cob pizza oven/outdoor kitchen, cob fireplace in the pavilion, gazebo/farmstand, and 200 square foot straw-clay  cottage with rocket stove and loft. Most recently we have been using an 800 square foot straw bale building, know as the Tree Barn, as the winter home base for our school. Look for on-farm workshops where you can get ideas and learn techniques for your own natural building projects.
